WHAT IS PM SURYA GHAR YOJANA?
PM Surya Ghar Yojana is a central government scheme aimed at helping households install rooftop solar systems and generate their own electricity. It is designed to make rooftop solar more accessible for residential properties across the country by combining financial support with a single online application route.
In practice the household registers on the national portal, selects an empanelled vendor, gets the system installed, and applies for the benefit after the net meter is installed and the installation is inspected. The scheme applies to residential rooftop systems, and the applicable capacity limits, support and conditions are published and updated on the official portal.
WHO CAN BENEFIT?
Eligibility depends on factors such as property type, rooftop ownership and electricity connection details. Broadly the scheme is meant for residential consumers with a valid electricity connection and a roof they are entitled to use for the installation.
This subsidy is available only for grid-connected rooftop solar systems (On-Grid and Hybrid). Off-Grid (fully independent, battery-only) systems are not eligible under this scheme.

This subsidy and pricing information applies specifically to residential houses under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana scheme — homeowners with their own rooftop and a valid domestic DISCOM electricity connection in their name. It does not apply to commercial properties, shops, offices, factories, rented properties, or any non-residential building.
